How is your music ministry serving the people of God?

Fifth Sunday of Lent

We approach the summit of this annual ascent to the holy mountain of Easter. Let us, as music ministers, reflect on how we have served the people of God in this ministry of prayer and proclamation. Take some time this week on your own and with other music ministers to prayerfully examine your consciences.

How might you more faithfully listen to God’s word and change your lives that you may be a messenger of God’s abundant mercy?

  • Have I thanked God for the gift of music and used this gift to serve others? Or have I used it to attract attention and feed my ego?
  • Have I encouraged the gifts of others and inspired them to use their gifts? Or have I been jealous of their talents?
  • Have I welcomed critique to help me be a better music minister? Or have I been proud, believing I don’t need to improve or learn new things?
  • Have I sought gentleness in my words and encouragement in my actions when others make mistakes? Or have I resented their faults and weaknesses and spoken or thought badly of them?
