Bulletin Shorts for the First Sunday of Advent

First Sunday of Advent – 01 December 2019
Isaiah 2:1-5. Psalm 122:1-2, 3-4, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9. Romans 13:11-14. Matthew 24:37-44.

Coming That Is Certain Yet Unknown. We begin a new liturgical year today, focusing on the parousia, the “end time”, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. We know its coming is certain. Jesus says, however, we just do not know when. How, then, shall we behave? As if that coming is today!

  • Since Christ is light (Isaiah and Creed), how will my merciful behaviors shine with his radiance?
  • Since Christ is near (Romans), how will I behave with sobriety, loving-kindness, and generosity?
  • I will stay awake for the Second Coming of Christ by _____________________?
